Subject: [OM] Lens Choices for Travel

Hello Ross and all zuiko/etts....
Today I heard a cry of help:

Other options are:

- - substitute my 35-70/3.5-4.5 for the 40/2. (sacrifice speed for
-flexibility of composition)
- - substitute a 70-210 (which I would have to buy) for the 200/5 ( no real
-loss of speed but maybe greater flexibility?)

AND To which I answer...
I have been playing around with 'overseas' travel gear - of the type you will
do. My conclusions so far (and this is a work in progress) is:

OM2n with either 50mm 1.4 or 24 f2.8 mm (great for landscape)
OM4 with either 35-70 f3.5-4.5
and a OM (Cosina) 70-210.
I find that with two bodies I can usually 'get the picture' with minimul lens
changing.
I also through in a T20 and off camera flash cord. (no problem with OM4t but
OM2n needs the proper TTL connector)
For travel I usually bring mostly Sensia 200. (I can pull it to 100 and push
it 400 or even 800 for interiors) seems to be fast enought to hand hold form
in a bus put good quality too.
The 50 f1.4 gets used more than you would think for no flash inside shots
(most museums and churches, etc don't allow flash) I push the sensia to 800,
lean against a wall - and it just works. (Other people on the trip often
shake their heads when they see me taking dark inside photos - and then
don't believe their eyes when they see the results.

TO BE HONEST I like this 3 or 4 lens set up a lot and it can be packed in a
smallish bag - the only thing missing is "easy to do fill flash" on contrasty
days. The next trip I take (in a couple of weeks) I am going to also bring a
small gold/silver foldable reflector to take the place of 'fill flash'. It
may or may not be practable - but worth a try......

Hope this helps
Cheers

Ken M
