As I understand it Eric, the Skylight 1A is intended to remove the "unwanted" blue cast from a scene on a clear blue day, normally at higher altitudes. But since I acquired an XA and started taking more photos without a filter (fixed to all my other lenses as protection etc...), I think that I have discovered photography in real colour: the blues are beautiful. But this is only conjecture on my part and some spoilsports on the List have suggested that it is deficient metering or vignetting that is deepening the skies on my photos ;-).

However, Gary Edwards, when he is not watching rockets, is planning to do a test between OM/35 and XA/35 photos.

Hello,
Here's a back-to-the-basics question:

When is the best time to use the 1A (ever so slightly rose) filter? Always?
Portraits? Never? Landscapes?

And while I'm thinking of it, what filters (besides polarizer) do you use
more than once a year, and under what circumstances?
