I meant to mention that one alternative to an ND filter is to use an 
off-axis mask.  Simply cut a hole of appropriate size in a disk that can 
slip over the objective like a lens cap.  Of course, if the hole has to 
be round and located between the edge of the corrector lens and edge of 
the secondary mirror it can't be very large.  Then, again, no one said 
it had to be round... or that there can only be one such hole.
